THE challenge
The Worlds Toughest Row
In December 2022 I will row across the Atlantic Ocean SOLO, just me, 2 oars and a 24ft rowing boat.
The premier event in ocean rowing - a challenge that will take me more than 3000 Miles west from San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain (28oN 18oW) to Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour, Antigua & Barbuda (17oN 61oW). The annual race begins in early December, with up to 30 teams participating from around the world.
I'll battle with sleep deprivation, salt sores and physical extremes inflicted by the race. Left alone with my own thoughts, the expanse of an ocean and the job of getting the boat safely to the other side.
More people have reached the summit of Everest or travelled into space than have successfully rowed an ocean.

the cause
leeds hospitals charity

I'm aiming to raise over £70,000 for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Leeds General Infirmary, the unit that saved our son's life.
Both of our children were born prematurely and needed lots of help in their first few months. Our youngest son Gabriel had complications and contracted meningitis which meant that the first period of his life was spent in and out of intensive care.
Without the amazing staff and facilities at LGI our lives would be very different today. We're the lucky ones, but we met many families along the way that weren't so fortunate. I want to try and change that for future families who so desperately need the specialist care we received.
Your generosity will help to get The Atlantic Campaign to Antigua and save many lives along the way.
Help me, to help others!

Me & gabriel 2011

This campaign is much more than a personal journey.
I want to genuinely change the future for children. Those who need intensive care support in hospital and also those who will use this campaign as a platform to discover their own adventurous spirit.
